For International Women’s Day, I have two offerings as contribution - a goddess meditation and a lovely selection of prose I have admired for many years.
The world is very hard right now, especially for women. I offer this to everyone who finds wisdom, inspiration, strength, and healing in these words. I am with you, and I honor your beautiful souls.
My deepest gratitude goes to the amazing women who organized this IWD Substack event. Please consider following and/or subscribing to them in solidarity:

If you listen hard enough, past the chaotic noise of the world, our ancient primordial wisdom swirls and swirls in our liminal minds. The siren’s song guides us to something forgotten. It never left, but the world drowned it out.
These black, primordial waters are the place of our birth. The place of our death. Of deep remembrance. We swim in these liminal waters to connect with our ancestors.
This is where ancient wisdom wraps around our bodies as we float in the primordial, reminding us that there is more to embody in our lives than we initially perceive. We must answer the siren’s song with our own.
The Goddess beckons us to reclaim our ancient wisdom, the old ways of our ancestors. These women were connected to Gaia and honored the gifts she gave.
The wild woman reclaims this deep well of knowing unapologetically. Each sister swimming in the liminal primordial waters together, in communion with one another and with the Goddess.
The muse gives us inspiration to bring our intentions into the world. From deep in our liminal mind, we thank spirit for giving us these gifts to bring our ancient wisdom to the surface.
The mother nurtures the world, her family, her spirit. Wisdom runs deep, healing both herself and those around her.
The mother becomes the crone, guiding others and ensuring her lineage also remembers. After her eventual death, her spirit returns to the primordial waters. She does not fear what comes next, for she is home.
Remember, sisters. The deep hum of spirit flows across time. Answer the siren’s song.
Imagine A Woman by Patricia Lynn Reilly
Imagine a woman who believes it is right and good she is a woman.
A woman who honors her experience and tells her stories.
Who refuses to carry the sins of others within her body and life.
Imagine a woman who trusts and respects herself.
A woman who listens to her needs and desires.
Who meets them with tenderness and grace.
Imagine a woman who acknowledges the past’s influence on the present.
A woman who has walked through her past.
Who has healed into the present.
Imagine a woman who authors her own life.
A woman who exerts, initiates, and moves on her own behalf.
Who refuses to surrender except to her truest self and wisest voice.
Imagine a woman who names her own gods.
A woman who imagines the divine in her image and likeness.
Who designs a personal spirituality to inform her daily life.
Imagine a woman in love with her own body.
A woman who believes her body is enough, just as it is.
Who celebrates its rhythms and cycles as an exquisite resource.
Imagine a woman who honors the body of the Goddess in her changing body.
A woman who celebrates the accumulation of her years and her wisdom.
Who refuses to use her life-energy disguising the changes in her body and life.
Imagine a woman who values the women in her life.
A woman who sits in circles of women.
Who is reminded of the truth about herself when she forgets.
Imagine yourself as this woman.
