I have conducted intuitive readings for several decades. I have also received many readings - tarot, mediumship, astrology, energy healing - and I know exactly how it feels to ask for someone to crack open your energy for guidance. Nervous! Excited! Terrified! Emotional!
Readers develop their style. I use an intuitive flow which focuses on gentle connection, introspective discussion, and proactive future-focused actions. I embrace a gentle, kind approach telling the truth as I see it to ensure a comfortable reading.
The steps I take when giving an intuitive reading - for both myself and my client - acknowledge that receiving a reading creates a range of emotions before, during, and after. I support every step with my clients.
Before the reading, my client should prepare:
What is your question? Please avoid questions about other people or future events. I focus on present-day issues with proactive problem solving strategies for the future.
How does your energy feel right now, and how would you like to feel after we are done? Please arrive with a calm and open energy.
Are you comfortable using Zoom?
Do you have a quiet place for our reading?
Are you comfortable allowing me to tap into your energy for my intuitive impressions?
Before the reading, I also prepare:
I prefer to not know your question in advance.
I will send you the zoom link and confirmed time, adjusting for time zones. Doing remote readings is effective via zoom. I don’t notice a difference using screens. Distance does not matter when working with energy.
15 minutes before our time, I will prepare the space - clear my work area, cleanse the space, and ground my energy.
I connect to my guides, asking for clear guidance. I also ask to connect with my client’s guide and intuitively select a few decks for the reading.
Ice breaker:
We don’t start with cards initially. We say hello and talk about prior experiences with tarot, a bit of chit-chat. It’s an ice breaker for both us to relax and share a few moments together. I need it as much as you.
I will then ask what your questions are. A few heavy caveats:
I am not a “fortune teller”, meaning I am not in the business of telling the future.
I deal in the present day. I will not read for someone else though you. This means if you are wondering about your spouse’s issues and what they need, that’s a no-go for me. I will ask you to reframe your question to focus on you, such as how you can best to support them through your actions.
I can read couples, but both parties must be present.
Reading (tarot):
I will present a few deck options, each with their own personality. I have many more - you have choice! I’ll find the right one for you.
I will take a moment to connect to our energies and then ask my guides (silently) how many cards and in what spread formation. I will get a quick flash of a number and perhaps the shape of the layout.
I do not use established spreads, outside of the standard celtic cross. I pull cards intuitively.
Most importantly, I ask gentle questions as we go. I work with cards to create connections in our conversation.
Reading (intuitive):
After the cards are reviewed, the intuitive reading begins, and connections are made to tell the spread as an entire story. I look at the overall impressions of how the cards connect to one another, and to you. They move around and pair intuitively, my guides assisting in creating intuitive impressions.
I will consult my guides, who then connect with your guides. You may not know them, or maybe you do! Either way, there is an energetic conversation I am picking up on when I ask you questions and bridge cards connections in the spread.
Many clients want to know who/what their spirit guides are.
I pick up gender and how many are present.
I can also pick up if it is an animal. However, I will not identify names. Sometimes the type of animal comes through.
I feel that the discovery of one’s spirit guides is an individual journey. Guides types and how many are all my guides will tell me.
I receive information through:
Claircognizance - a “knowing” though thoughts and ideas bubbling up from my guides in my mind.
Clairsentience - feelings in my body, or energy pouring over me for affirmation when I hit on something significant, and emotions I pick up from the client. Sometimes it is a specific feeling in my body, like a tingling on my skin or warming over my heart.
Mediumship may come through, meaning communication with spirits human or otherwise. I am very careful with this, and always ask permission if I sense this is happening, or the client if is seeking this. Never a guarantee.
Closing:
I ask if there are any additional questions.
We address any lingering feelings or impressions.
I silently ask my guides to close out the connection, thanking them for the clarity and flow of guidance.
Post-Reading:
If the reading felt really moving and significant for you, I will sometimes check in a week later to see how you are doing. Many times, processing our conversation takes time.
